GAP Nedir? Faydaları Nelerdir? GAP Hangi Şehirleri Kapsar?
Güneydoğu Anadolu Projesi yani GAP, Fırat ve Dicle nehirleri üzerinde barajlar, hidroelektrik santraller ve sulama tesislerinin yapımını öngören büyük bir kalkınma projesidir. temel hedef bölgenin kalkınmasını sağlamaktır. 1980 yılında başlayan proje ile Güneydoğu Anadolu halkının hayat standardını ve bölgenin gelişmişlik düzeyini yükseltmek, tarımda verimliliği ve iş imkanlarını arttırmak amaçlanır. yaklaşık 50 milyar dolar maliyeti olan GAP ile ilgili bazı ayrıntılar şöyledir;
Projenin kapsadığı iller: Adıyaman, Batman, Diyarbakır, Gaziantep, Kilis, Mardin, Siirt, Şanlıurfa, Şırnak
Projenin yüzölçümü: 75.378 km2
İstihdam kapasitesi: 3.800.000 kişi
sulamaya açılacak arazi: 1.800.000 hektar
Yıllık elektrik üretim hedefi: 27 milyar KWh
yapımı devam eden GAP sayesinde milyonlarca insana istihdam sağlanmasının yanı sıra eğitim, ulaştırma, sağlık, sanayi gibi sektörlerde gelişecek ve böylece bölge her anlamda kalkınmış olacak.
